whole chicken drives this basket at $5.96, 36% of the total. The next biggest lines are fresh thyme ($2.99) and garlic ($2.49). $3.21 of the basket - 19% - is package remainder: food you buy because stores sell packages and recipes call for amounts. It does not vanish, it sits in your kitchen for the next meal.

Lemon, onions, and thyme decorate this oven-baked chicken.

  1. Wash hands with soap and water.
  2. Combine salt, pepper, garlic, and thyme.
  3. Lay chicken pieces into a 11x13 inch baking pan. Sprinkle seasonings over chicken.
  4. Combine onions, stock, and lemon juice in a sauce pan. Heat to a boil.
  5. Pour hot lemon mixture around chicken. Top each chicken piece with a lemon slice.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes at 400 °F until golden brown and juices are clear colored.
